ABOUT THE ROLE

The Strategic Accounts Manager is responsible for selling Minor Figures products into multi-unit regional and national coffee chains, and is the primary sales contact for foodservice opportunities (outside of specialty cafes). This is an individual contributor, quota-carrying sales role focusing on both short- and long-term sales targets.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
  • In collaboration with regional-sales-managers, target and close high-volume regional, multi-unit coffee chains. 

  • Ongoing account management for secured coffee chains, building strong relationships and partnership activities that retain the business year over year. 

  • Support in building and growing the pipeline and sales for national coffee and foodservice chains (including but not limited to conventional and second wave), securing multi-year profitable partnerships and volume-based contracts. 

  • Be the primary sales contact for foodservice opportunities (outside of independent specialty cafes, and in markets without a Sr TSR) to stretch Minor Figures presence and sales in complementary outlets, like bakeries, smoothie shops, corporate campuses and C&U. 

  • Lead, motivate and manage foodservice broker(s); onboard and manage future brokers as required. 

  • Work collaboratively with On-Premise team on distributor ownership and management, directly managing any account-specific new distribution and/or assuming management of any current distributors (likely broadline) as sales opportunities are won. 

  • Champion the channel internally, advising MF on opportunities, needs and resources particularly related to foodservice management groups, GPOS and contract opportunities. 

  • Work closely with NAM and Global Finance to develop profitable sales opportunities. 

  • Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, innovation, revenue management and operations to align sales efforts with overall business objectives.

Although the entire NAM team is remote we are a very close knit bunch. We might be a small team but we truly believe in our product and know how to speak the language of coffee. We like to build lasting relationships within our team as well as with our customers.
This role reports to the On-Premise Sales Director, and is a key individual contributor to this channel.

For this role you must have a strong sales drive, with the ability to adjust style and approach as required by the customer. You must balance persistence and perseverance with a sense of urgency. You’ll need to be a strong hunter, but also value account management and retention. Because you’re working on adjacent opportunities within an already established team, there will be crossover between accounts and distributors; therefore you must be an exceptionally strong collaborator, recognizing that transparency and over-communication are keys to sustained success for all stakeholders with a “one-team-one-dream” mentality. You also must love the thrill of a fast-growing brand, where change occurs often.

Requirements: 

  • Love of specialty coffee, plus knowledge of the purchasing motivators for coffee chains
  • Pitch and negotiation skills that secure multi-year, win-win contracts
  • Excellent communication skills that allow for deep transparency and collaboration with other members of the sales channel
  • Experience with broadline, regional, and specialty distributors; working knowledge of foodservice distribution networks.
  • Open and collaborative nature, developing and nurturing key internal and external partnerships.
  • 3+ years of progressive sales experience in cafes/foodservice.
  • Previous experience in broker management.
  • Working knowledge of B&I sales, GPO’s and contract management groups.

YOUR COMMITMENT
We are a remote team and so you will work from home, with regular travel. You should reside near a major airport, and preference will be given for people living in the Western US. We’re flexible, but mainly all we ask is that you’re able to travel flexibly and carry out the requirements of the role to the best standard.

This role is an exempt role working 40 hours per week. A work schedule of Monday-Friday from 8:00am- 5:00pm with flexibility for trade shows and other work related travel that may occur on weekends. Also, as part of a global organization, on occasion you may be asked to join calls outside of regular hours.
